Thank you for being a part of the GoodGiving Challenge Nov.27 - Dec.3, 2018!
You may be wondering, what is the difference between GoodGiving.net and the GoodGiving Challenge? GoodGiving.net is an online data website open 365 days a year that was established for donors to easily find their favorite causes and for nonprofits to use throughout the year for their fundraising efforts. The GoodGiving Challenge is Central and Appalachia Kentucky's premier online giving event. The GoodGiving Challenge strives to connect donors with nonprofits and causes they care about while building a spirit of philanthropy.
Nonprofit Frequently Asked Questions
We encourage you to start with the GoodGiving Challenge Terms and Conditions. This document should answer most of your questions PRIOR to starting your registration, but please refer to it throughout the Challenge. We also recommend you visit the Nonprofit Resources tab, which is full of useful promotional materials. This can be found when you login to the nonpublic facing side of the website and is available for all approved organizations within the donation platform system, using your login. For optimal viewing and working within the platform, we highly recommend you use Google Chrome as your internet browser.
How does it work?
Blue Grass Community Foundation and Smiley Pete Publishing will host the GoodGiving Challenge beginning Tuesday, November 27 at 9:00 am and ending December 3 at 11:59 pm. This event encourages charitable donations through our online giving platform, hosted by CiviCore.
Blue Grass Community Foundation will provide toolkits, training sessions, outreach support, mass media and social media coverage to make it easy for all nonprofits to participate. Each participating organization will have an individualized web page to promote their cause.
Individuals will be able to donate money to the nonprofit organizations of their choice starting November 28 at 9:00 am. All donations are tax deductible and irrevocable. (Donations will not be refunded). Donors will receive a receipt for their gift. The nonprofit will receive contact information for each donor, unless the donor elects to remain anonymous.
How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?
For donations processed by credit card and e check, the platform has a combined 5.1 percent fee per donation.
However, donors may elect to "OPT IN" to help cover fees during checkout in order to lessen the fees paid by the nonprofits. By selecting YES to cover the fees, your donation will be increased by 5.1% to help cover the fees (2.1% credit card processing fee and 3.0% for technology/security and program costs). This helps more money go directly to the nonprofit. If you elect to pay by electronic check, your donation would still be increased by 5.1%, but the 2.1% that would normally go to the credit card processing company will actually go to the nonprofit instead.
Blue Grass Community Foundation is a nonprofit 501c3 and does not financially benefit from the Challenge.
Is there a minimum or maximum donation?
The minimum donation for the GoodGiving Challenge is $10. There is no maximum donation limit for the GoodGiving Challenge.
Is there a limit to the amount an organization can receive?
There is no maximum amount an organization may receive for the GoodGiving Challenge.
How will an organization know who has donated to them?
Organizations that have registered on the platform can track donations in real time by logging-in to their CiviCore account. Nonprofits can download a detailed donation report at any time through their account to thank and follow-up with individual donors and tabulate donation value and number of donors. The files can be used in Excel and is widely compatible with other spreadsheet applications.
Do I need to issue a tax receipt to my donors?
No, donations made through the GoodGiving Challenge will be receipted from the GoodGiving Challenge. However, we do encourage you to send a thank you note to your donors letting them know how awesome they are!
